It was good enough for Ponch. Except he had a weird Formula/Trans Am combo hood.

It got a standard Trans Am hood later in the series after one of the many times it was destroyed

I prefer the Formula to the TA in this gen.

Dad’s ‘73 Esprit had the hood and looked pretty good.

I prefer the T/A over the Formula. But I wouldn’t mind owning either. I think that’s the best looking Firebird gen. Without a doubt

There’s a brown one in very good condition that’s always at a bar near me. I’ll try to snap a pic.

I use to have a 71 Formula 400, I love that car.

I prefer the Formula to the T/A in any gen F-body.

FYI for all of you movie people. This is the same Trans Am they used in Corvette Summer with Mark Hamill, and was painted gold from black.

Yes, it is. :) My first car was a 71 Firebird Formula! Which the olive green and red one both are 71s. You can tell by the 71 only front fenders. :)
Mine was repainted brewster green, but was originally the olive green. I am still sad I had to sell it before I moved down to Florida. :(
These where also the best handling cars GM had for these years. They handled better than Vettes during test. Delorean had designed these in the wind tunnel. :)
